Tour Poem #2:
Grandma Had Been A total Stranger, Until She Got Her Nose Caught In The Record Changer.
(by Todd Snider)
Everybody knows that Charles Manson listened to the Beatles,
And that their music told him to do things.
What people don't know is that,
He also listened to the Moody Blues.
They also told him to do things,
Just less dramatic things.
Variations
On Tension:
"In America we like our bad guys dead. Preferably after some kind of kick ass car chase."
"Gay people getting married. That's what scares people that don't have shit all else to be scared of these days. They can't even get you in church with that anymore. It's gonna destroy our culture. Like rap music. Remember when rap music was going to destroy our culture and then it did. When was the last time that you saw somebody wave their hands in the air like they care? Nobody does it anymore. If you ever see somebody waving their hands in their air it's going to be like they just don't care. Sometimes I think I would like to wave my hands in the air aloofly like I was indifferent to the situation. But I can't. No I cannot. Because rap destroyed our culture."
On Alright Guy:
"It ain't like I went on TV and tore up a picture of the pope like Sinead O'Connor did that time. Remember that? That's what she did. She didn't stick her tongue out funny. It's easy to get those girls confused sometimes."
On Doublewide Blues:
"I ain't been out since Honey Boo Boo came on."
